Skills Workshop

Single-day skills workshop for those wanting to progress from “double rope throw and go” to contemporary releasable single-rope canyoning techniques. Very limited space with only 6 spots available.

Workshop will be on a dry cliff face… not in a wet canyon. Likely Mt York but locations is to be confirmed (but somewhere in the Bluies).

The workshop will cover (time permitting):

  • Risk

  • Communication (hand signals, whistle signals, voice)

  • Teamwork & efficiency

  • Gear (personal and group)

  • Rope management

  • Releasable systems (top and bottom)

  • Traverse/access lines

  • Ascent (climbing rope) and descent

  • Guided abseils

  • VT prussic

Particiapnts are expected to:

  • Have canyoned before i.e. canyons involving abseils… not just walk through canyons

  • Have their own canyoning gear

  • Know how to construct an anchor using tape/rope and a tree

  • Be a member of Canyoning Australia
