Single-day skills workshop for those wanting to progress from “double rope throw and go” to contemporary releasable single-rope canyoning techniques. Very limited space with only 6 spots available.
Workshop will be on a dry cliff face… not in a wet canyon. Likely Mt York but locations is to be confirmed (but somewhere in the Bluies).
The workshop will cover (time permitting):
Risk
Communication (hand signals, whistle signals, voice)
Teamwork & efficiency
Gear (personal and group)
Rope management
Releasable systems (top and bottom)
Traverse/access lines
Ascent (climbing rope) and descent
Guided abseils
VT prussic
Particiapnts are expected to:
Have canyoned before i.e. canyons involving abseils… not just walk through canyons
Have their own canyoning gear
Know how to construct an anchor using tape/rope and a tree
