Announcing the Winners of the Canyoning Australia’s 2026 Photo Competition!

The results are in, and the Canyoning Australia is thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s! From stunning Blue Mountains slot canyon sun rays to some crazy flows and first descents around the country, our committee was super impressed with the level photography skills our members have to showcase the incredible beauty of canyoning in Australia. With an outstanding number of entrants and many excellent entries to choose from, our panel of judges selected five outstanding images that truly captured the essence of canyoning in Australia.

Judging criteria

Photos were judged on a number of factors including subject, composition, framing, lighting, artistry and novelty. Yes technical quality was important but above all the question we asked was “What does this say about canyoning in Australia?”.

🥇  Charlie Clay - Claustral Canyon

My image, 'Heavens Rock' is a photograph I captured of my brother, Ollie, during our first trip into Claustral Canyon. I was swimming and laughing with our friend, James, as he climbed up the rock behind us, before I turned around to see this - I was awestruck and excited... It was a photographer's dream and it was happening right in front of me. This trip will certainly stay with us for the rest of our lives. It was just epic.
