Podcast featuring Tom Jones (the creator of Imlay Canyon Gear)

Post by T2 » 02 Mar 2019, 21:53

Many of you will have heard of Imlay Canyon Gear (maker of some very nice canyoning ropes, along with packs and other specialist gear). The guy behind the brand is Tom Jones, who not only makes gear, but actually wrote the guidebook for Zion canyons.
Tom was interviewed for a really interesting episode of the G.O. (Get Outside) podcast. He talks about his journey to get into canyoneering, via many decades of rock climbing, time working at Black Diamond, and a broken back!
It's long -- nearly an hour -- but a really interesting listen.
Oh, and some photos of Tom and his canyon adventures below.

I've been listening to a few other episodes of this podcast talking to canyoneers. The one with Rich Rudow is also well worth a listen (it probably helps that I spent three weeks paddling the Grand Canyon and doing some of the slot canyons he helped discover). Rich has spent 1000 days within the walls of the Grand Canyon and helped establish many of its technical canyoneering routes.
