Save the date for FreezeFest 2019

Post by T2 » 09 Jul 2018, 10:22

FreezeFest was a blast on the weekend, despite the ridiculously cold and windy conditions.

There were plenty of people who said they'd love to take part in future, but already had plans for the weekend. So I've decided to just pencil in the date for next year, with the details to come later. I decided to go with the weekend of the winter solstice because it not only seems a very appropriate date, but being early in winter it shouldn't be quite as cold, so hopefully that encourages more people to take part.

What: FreezeFest 2019
When: Saturday 22 / Sunday 23 June
Where: Greater Blue Mountains (precise location TBC)

As I will be away enjoying the warmth of Tasmania on 22-23/6, it would be good if FreezeFest could be moved to 29-30 June. Please consider.

John, sorry to hear you'll be away. The date was changed this year to make it fall on the Winter Solstice (June 22) which seemed like a more symbolic date for FreezeFest.

Is it a real freeze-fest without snow?

Jokes aside, sad to miss out.

Robert, thanks for the reminder. I'll post details now for people to join!

Oh, and back in 2014 we did it at Kanangra. There was snow on the ground at camp. And half a dozen of us still went through Kanangra Main. Now that was a properly cold FreezeFest!
