Coorongooba (Glen Davis) closure due to bushfire

Post by T2 » 30 Oct 2019, 11:26

National Parks have closed the Coorongooba campground along with the Capertee River Trail at Glen Davis due to a nearby bushfire. This means there is no access to the Wollemi from the east of Glen Davis, cutting off access to canyons such as Coinslot or those in the Freshwater Creek system.

The fire is currently burning to the north east of the campground, stretching from Gospers Mountain in the east almost to Coorongooba Creek in the west, and into the headwaters of Running Stream. The burnt area includes the old airstrip.

Updates on the fire can be found on the RFS website.

I'd recommend people avoid any of the remote canyons in the Coorongooba / Ovens Creek area until the fire is contained.
