The recent heavy rains caused a small landslide that has destroyed part of the usual Empress Canyon access track. The exact location is just north of where Lilians Bridge crosses the canyon.
Currently, the canyon is open (once water levels are safe) but it requires a longer approach / exit.
The only entry to the canyon is via West Street (just off the Great Western Highway). Follow the track past Edinburgh Castle Rock and down to the log book. To exit the canyon, head up to the Conservation Hut then take the Nature Track back to West St. This detour will add about an hour to the average trip through the canyon. Given the limited parking in West Street, it may be best to just do the above loop starting from the Conservation Hut.

Re: Empress Canyon -- access change after landslide
My friends and I were trapped by bad weather on this route... But it all worked out. How is the situation there now?
