Keeping up to date with the latest forum discussion

One of the biggest challenges with online forums is that you need to remember to visit the site to find out what new content there is. That's certainly a point a few people have raised with us.

In response, we have set up a number of simple tools that will hopefully make it easier for you to keep track of new discussions.

The first few are built into the forum software. One of the easiest options is to go to the User Control Panel (click on the little arrow next to your photo in the top right corner). Under "Board preferences", then "Edit notification options", you can chose to get emailed whenever someone posts a new topic in a part of the forum you are interested. Then all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of the page on any forum section you want to follow and click on the "Subscribe forum" button. You can remove subscriptions or change your email settings at any time in the User Control Panel. This will guarantee you never miss a discussion.

If, like me, you use RSS feeds to keep track of new content on your favourite website, you can now add Canyoning Australia to you feed reader. It is possible to have every post show up in your feed, but you can also just get a feed of the new topics that are started.

We've also set up pages on Facebook and Twitter that will automatically post when a new topic is added, so if you use those social networks you can use those to stay in the loop.
