Cascade Falls is a short and sweet series of waterfalls that can be descended quite quickly. A great training canyon for beginner canyoners or a nice run for more experienced canyoners who only have a few hours to spare. Super-easy access, short walk-in/out. Some get-fully-wet abseils, potholes and pools, but easy to drip off / warm up on open slabs between abseils so can be done in cooler weather. Can easily walk out from most drops, so ideal for beginners who may be cold or don’t want to abseil further. Very good for teaching/practicing canyon rigging.

By car
- Cascade Falls Parking spot is located at -34.571387, 150.678420 along the Illawarra Highway at the base of Macquarie Pass. Park on the north side of the road (true left).
- From the Cascade Falls Parking spot cross the grassed field and walk along the Cascade Walking Track to the base of Cascade Falls
- At the base of Cascade Falls cross the creek to the river left and proceed uphill sideling up along the creek/waterfalls
- Proceed uphill until you reach a sign advising “track closed”. Turn left and walk a few meters to the creek and the beginning of the canyon
- You will know if you have gone too far if you hit Calderwood fire trail. If this occurs simply walk west along the fire trail until you reach a ford across the creek. At this point simply walk down the creek until you reach the first abseil
- A series of 7 drops with various anchors, most placed to get you wet
- All abseils are optional and can be walked around
- Some of the drops land in deep-ish wet “potholes” and can be a little tricky to traverse
